A quick question related to this; a couple days ago I managed to somehow ease myself through that cutscene and got into the subsequent level. However, seconds into the level, just as I approach the chasm, I get a windows error crash.

Any ideas? I'm running R3089 with the default options.

Well, to preface this, my little brother has a wii, and will be taking it to college so no wii for me. I have Brawl and other wii games so I made isos of them and got dolphin.

On my system, ------- AMD Opteron Dual Core 285 @ 3.01Ghz + 8800GT + 3GB ram 1T------- Brawl gets around 45 fps running at 1080p with AA and AF maxed out in a 2 player match (give or take 10fps depending on the stage)

So i wonder what speeds people are getting with more powerful cpus (as mine is very out of date). And the reason why I'm wondering is because I'm thinking about upgrading my system solely to play wii on it. I can't bring myself to drop 250 on yet another wii, and a know with 350 i can get a killer cpu+ mobo combo. Especially since a cpu upgrade is a fact of life, it would happen sooner or later anyway.

So is it worth it? Do faster CPUs get around 100fps on 2 player matches? Its really important to me because I dont want to get a phenom XII 255 just to learn that Dolphin does not scale well.

Any input is greatly appreciated

by the way...

plz, if u wanna speed on this emu don take any amd x2 take c2d that goes further than 3ghz, or a phenon 2 x4 those wich goes thru 4ghz...

ull need processing power, my processor can handle dolphin, but cant run mario kart wii on multplayer, i guess u can onlt do that at 4ghz, but atm, dolphin may need a mainfram to run mario kart wii on multiplayer at full speed =P, thats becoz u cant turn optimize quantizers on for this game...

and for god sakes get a x64 system.

Dolphin will be able to go past the cutscene in interpreter mode, but as you said, it will crash ingame after that.

If you read my post you would see that I am planning to get a PhenomII X4 955, not another dual core opteron.

Yeah, i kinda figured that mario kart would still be slow, but i'm more concerned about Super Smash Bros Brawl (hence the post in the SSBB section)

And what makes you think i dont have an x64 system??? Huh

Because I have a Dual Core @ 2.80 GHz and I also get around 45 fps at a higher resolution than 1080p with all the enhancements.
At this point I guess its more about optimizing Dolphin to get the extra fps than tuning the system. But thats just a guess.
Furthermore Dolphin only uses Dual Core, not Quad Core, at least at the moment.

Thank for your helpful response.

I guess it'll just make more sense to wait until dolphin gets a lil bit more optimized (its great as is though), or it starts to support quad core.

I have a Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz and GeForce 8400M GS, on a laptop. I can run brawl at 45-50 fps on most SSE levels. How? Using Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit with Wine.

I also have Windows 7 64 bit, running Dolphin I get playable fps (35-39) but nowhere as good as I get with Ubuntu/Wine. So, it is possible to tweak the system. Though I suppose these numbers would be much less drastic if running on a Desktop, as Windows seems to cripple the CPU much more when using a laptop to conserve power.

Hmm, that is a big difference...

It's been years since i've used Ubuntu (i used it for a media server). I guess its time to get it back, lol.

But I want to see what fps someone gets with a really powerfull system.

My aim is to get 50 fps with 4 players, items on, 1080p, full AA, full AF, and a harsh stage. Right now a 4 player game with all the bells and whistles is about 30.

So can someone with a much more powerful cpu than I (any i7, Core 2 @ 4ghz. or phenom XII @3.6ghz), tell me what kind of fps you get?

Hi! I don't know if this question was answered previously, but i'd like to know if there is a fix for the crashes when you go back to the main menu after entering Brawl mode, for example.
Thanks for your time! Blush

As of now, no. Not in the linux version either.

That is why save states are a must when you play brawl, otherwise you'll find yourself restarting brawl very often.
