How do you get the log file to print anything about the game?

I finally figured out how to get it to save, for me, after seeing this yesterday. Hopefully it'll work for others with the same issue. Here's what I did:

1. Go to View -> Log Configuration.
2. Change the Verbosity setting to 'Warning'.
3. Now you can either check 'Write to File' so that the log output is written to a file in User/Logs, or just open the log console from the View menu, or both. The file has the advantage that it doesn't seem to automatically clear, and the console has the advantage that it's color-coded.
4. Run the game, and after trying to save (or trying to delete the supposed corrupted save), look at the log, and there should be a yellow line complaining about a missing directory.

Example: for me, the log's warning in r7633 reads "Src\IPC_HLE\WII_IPC_HLE_Device_fs.cpp:111 W[WII_IPC_FILEIO]: FS: Search not found: ./User/Wii/ffffffff/ffffffff/data"

5. Manually create the missing directory, and the game should save inside of there from that point on.

This worked for me on rev 7683 on OSX. In user/wii I created a folder named ffffffff, under that another folder named ffffffff and under that a folder named data. Finally! Thanks to subversion525.

I found a partial fix to the minor graphics issue. It is the same fix used in the blue coin issue in New Super Mario Bros Wii.

Here is the related issue. If someone could comment there with the fix details it would be good. I am in the process of recovering my google account >_>

On to the fix: in Grahpics > Hacks. Where it says "EFB copes" set it to ram.

This fixes doors and going in 3D animation. Traveling through pipes, using Slim still not working correctly. I imagine any chase where a character appears transparent is also not fixed by this. (by this i mean such Chapter 2, the lady your looking for appears as a black filled in silhouette on the screen, much like you do when using slim or going into a pipe. The search for the full fix continues!


I don't use cache you may need to depending on your system.

using emulated wiimote :

Is there any way to play this without having to keep 1 key held down ?
(IR forward/backward/hide any 1 of these 3 need to be kept pressed)

Someone suggested binding IR to mouse instead of ps2 type controller keys but that definitely does not work...

edit: nevermind figured it out:
go to the wiimote config, then go to IR, then click on backward. RIGHT CLICK on the bind, then select the button you want to bind for the toggle to use the fairy thing then click on the NOT.

edit2: same as 1st edit, but bind to the IR->forward bind and assign it to the desired toggle button and NOT that. Either forward or backward will work.

Hi guys. I registered just to tell you this, so feel extra special... I guess... -shrug-

Using 3.0-371, I get the intro crash that seemed to be a problem several revisions ago. Jumped back to 3.0-367 and no crash. I haven't got that far in the game past this (first dimensional heart door thingy... whatever), but given it's only a few revisions away and was a problem at one point, someone might want to see what got borked between here and there.

intel, 4 cores @ 1.73, 6gb ram, nvidia 425m, using wiimote. Let me know if you need to know anything, else, need a log file, run a debugger or something, whatever. I'm a quick study.

Hi i've got the same problem (black silhouette when using slim and i'm invisible) in chapter 2-3 where i have to cross electrified barriers, but i've got a solution for it, and maybe could help you, just having the wii mote sideways press down on the wii cross and the electrified barriers won't hurt you then just walk and do it again for the other barrier.

I know you where talking about the chapter 2-4 but this may help, please reply to know more about your problem and i'll try to help you.

I'm playing on 3.0-376 dirty. Everything's been working well so far, minor graphical glitches but nothing insurmountable. However, I just reached the boss battle with Francis, and he's invincible, not to mention causing massive slowdowns. The wiki says this was a known issue with previous versions but was fixed in later ones, it appears to be back. The "disable dual core" trick still seems to work, I was able to hurt and beat him with it disabled.

Framerate takes a massive dive during this battle though, I figure it may be due to the invisibility effects but there are other instances of characters fading in and out of invisibility that don't cause slowdown like this. I've been playing at a solid 60 FPS, the battle with Francis drops it to 30, and when I disable dual core it goes down to 20.

Just thought someone would like to know.

Well, I've run into a game-stopper. I'm at chapter 6-1, where you meet King Sammer. When he calls for his vassals the camera pans over to the doors, they swing open, and the game freezes. The emu is still running, I can hit escape to kill the game and get back to the main Dolphin window, but I can't seem to get past this point. Any suggestions?

Edit: Downloaded latest build, reset config to default, still getting the freeze.
