No. Dolphin doesn't support playing Zelda SS with an Xbox 360 controller.
[Wii] Super Mario Galaxy 2

Hey, so I'm trying to play Super Mario Galaxy 2. The game does work, but I'm experiencing frequent slowdowns. I narrowed down a moment where the slowdown is most severe (in the beginning when giant Bowser is stomping around the castle), and with a bit of tinkering I've managed to discover that this issue is 100% audio related. When using LLE I get slowdowns near 40FPS in that area, but when I switch to HLE the slowdowns are almost entirely eliminated and the game becomes much more playable. I'd be able to live with some sounds being louder than they should be, but I can't deal with the background music cutting out after a few minutes. I don't know an awful lot about this, but I'd guess that my CPU is the weak link here. So my question is, are there any other settings I can change to eliminate this slowdown? (I've already set the framelimit to audio; feels a bit easier to listen to, but still not exactly playable)
While I'm at it, the background for the face ship and start menu are both way off. Here's a screenshot: http://imgur.com/kADF0RB The start menu looks the same, but it's harder to get a clear shot of. I can live with this one, but a fix would be really nice. 08-17-2015, 09:46 AM

Update to the latest development build as NZHLE was recently merged, meaning HLE audio support in Zelda ucode games has been improved! (You'll also get many speed improvements because of the recent optimizations in the JIT. Also, I think the bg error might be caused by anisotropic filtering...?)

I'm very new to this so I didn't think that development versions were for the average person, but it seems to work perfectly, and everything just makes a little more sense. Running HLE no longer cuts the background music, and the game just runs so damn smooth. Maybe now I can even get the 60fps patch to work in Super Mario Sunshine, eh? I also wasn't aware that anisotropic filtering could cause that much of an issue, but I turned it down to 1x and the whole game just looks so much better. I didn't even realize how messed up it was. One last question, is there anything I can do about the wii remote cursor if I'm using an xbox controller? I know I can set it to hide with a button, but I don't want to hold it the whole time I play. 08-17-2015, 05:19 PM
The dev builds are - at this point - really the recommended builds for everyone. The release version is just so old that not only is it missing hundreds of new features and improvements, it's also actually less stable; there were more random crashes back then. So yeah, just use the latest dev builds until Dolphin 5.0 comes out

For hiding the cursor, I think it's possible to do something like mapping Hide to the control stick not being touched? I haven't used it myself, but it sounds like it should work. 08-18-2015, 04:50 AM
If anything illustrates the need to stop issuing stable builds altogether, it's the fact that 5.0 isn't even out yet, and people are already telling new members not to use it.

Well, there are good reasons for stable builds. However, I think Dolphin's development structure is so well organized that there's seldomly really big steps going backwards or really bad regressions which aren't quickly fixed.

So I got it to work, but thanks to the analog stick's dead zone I can't aim anywhere near the centre of the screen with that configuration. Perhaps with further tinkering I'll find a better implementation, but for now I'll just set it to hide the cursor any time I'm not pressing the right shoulder button. |
