Wii startup disc "Checking Disc" loop

Hey fellas, There is a really annoying problem with Wii startup disc. When you load Wii menu, the menu continually changes to the "Checking Disc" screen, then back to the "Please insert..." screen and again.

Just to make sure, are you using a pre-release NAND dump of a Wii and want to run the Wii Startup Disc in order to install the Wii Menu? If you're using the actual Wii Menu, you will not be able to run the Wii Startup Disc.
