I used to get the same hang also, but haven't seen it since around 4.0-750. Try any builds after that.

Is there a way to get the newest versions by simply installing everything over the existing folder, without losing the settings and stuff?

If it's a dev build past the global directory merge, then no issue. If its one of the stable builds or dev build before the global directory merge, no.

Since I got to Act 6 of Carnival Night there have been instances where the screen goes all black (but the UI and menu stay). It's really annoying.
I got the newest build. At least the game isn't freezing anymore. 02-23-2014, 08:16 AM
When I play Sonic Colors, it runs at about 25-30 FPS (30 is the cap I presume) but the audio stutters constantly, and when it does, it sometimes (not constantly) causes the game to stutter, though the FPS counter still works and the lag counter doesn't increment. The audio settings I have the best success with are DSP HLE and DSound (the rest not selected).
Is there anyway to prevent this or is my computer not powerful enough? Here's my PC specs: Windows 8.1 x64 Intel-i5-2320 @ 3.00GHz Nvidia GT 640 2GB Dolphin 4.02 x64 8 GB of RAM Edit: After some trial and error I was able to solve the problem, running the OpenAL audio option works, however sometimes it doesn't and the PC will have to be rebooted to solve this, sometimes more than once. It was just I ended up with it not working a few times in a row. 05-15-2014, 03:09 AM
Has the emulation for this game improved in the last 3 months? Last time I was having this issue:

I haven't gotten that far into the game, but download the latest revision and try it out. There have been a lot of great updates, accuracy improvements, and speed increases to offset the accuracy increases that may have fixed it.

Yes!! It was fixed!
Thanks to all who contributed! I take it the slight but frequent slowdown issues are simply because it requires more of the computer, and mine isn't good enough. 05-16-2014, 03:32 AM
Could be settings being too high for your processor; but it seems pretty strong. I don't know how demanding this game is to tell you for sure. I think you should be able to get it running near speed though.
