Game starts, but after publisher logos, crashes with invalid read error.

Tested with and without Dual core. All default options

Have you made sure to use a japanese NAND with it?

Unfortunately I have no access to a japanese one. and my Wii is fried, so no way of knowing if this boots in a US Wii

You can download Japanese NAND files from Nintendo's update server, or from the game disc itself. (Dolphin has a feature for this built in.) But anyway, what's most important is that you set the language in the Wii tab of the settings to Japanese.

Setting the language removed the error, game works perfectly now !

Another configuration that should be listed on the wiki.
