Could we really obtain good results/compatibility/latency with a so cheap hardware? 01-26-2019, 08:52 AM

The sensor bar is connected to the Wii just to get power. There is no communication between it and the console of any kind. In fact there are no "sensors" in it, just a bunch LED's, like JosJuice indicated.

I don't have an AimTrak or anything (nor I have I considered the the Sinden prototype yet), so I can't compare it to more expensive pieces of lightgun hardware, but just using a Wiimote with Dolphinbar opens up the possibility of using it for many different emulators, some of which support lightgun emulation via mouse. From what I've learned in a short period, BT Passthrough with a dedicated dongle has better emulation support via Dolphin (speaker and reliability with motion+) but I don't know if I'd switch from my Dolphinbar to a dedicated dongle. I think that's generally what experienced users here recommend as well; stick with what you have unless the trade offs are really important to you. I did breakdown and buy the Dolphinbar specifically for Dolphin primarily, but it can be used to navigate your OS, play other emulators, or function as a generic gamepad device. 02-02-2019, 11:43 AM

The DolphinBar is more expensive than normal sensor bars if you're just going to use it for the IR LEDs, and it has the problem of either the IR LEDs burning out or it being impossible to use the IR LEDs when no Wii Remote is connected to its Bluetooth.my dolphinbar stopped supporting pointer on the remote after a couple of weeks... i am guessing that's due to a faulty IR led.. I don't know. |
