Hi everybody. I'm new, so please be patient with sections and so on. I'm italian too, so my english is not that good.

I downloaded dolphin (last version), didn't touched anything in settings and started 2 or 3 games. No one of them maintain the saved state after a reboot (exit and open again).

Save states (shift+f1) work well, so what can be the problem?

Thank you in advance

4.0.2 is too old at this point, try the latest dev builds and see if it still happens. (You need to extract the files that come packaged in the ZIP first, then run).
Rig 1: Windows 10 Home | AMD A6-1450 @ 600/1000/1400 MHz | AMD Radeon HD Graphics 8250 | 4GB RAM | HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11.

Rig 2: Windows 10 Pro | Intel Core i7-2640M @ 780/2800/3500 MHz | Intel HD 3000 Mobile | 8GB RAM | Dell Latitude 6320.

This is similar enough to my issue, so I won't make a new thread.

I just upgraded to the latest version of Dolphin 4.0-5429

I am unable to access my Xenoblade save state files. From my prior build. I tried saving a new save state in an unused slot (f8) and it saved it to the same folder as my other save states. I just can't access them on the new version.

Just double checked the folder and it seems that the old version of Dolphin saves Xenoblade under
SX4P01

While the new version of Dolphin saves Xenoblade as
SX4J01

I tried changing the name of one of the the old Dolphin saves to match the new one, but now it just says that I'm playing a different game than what the save state is for.

How do I successfully transfer my saves?

Save states are often version depended.
Depending on what changes were made(the time between the rev you used to create the save state and the latest rev),dolphin may not allow you to load your old save states.

The best way(100% to work)is to save while using the game saving function(not save states)with the last dolphin version which allow you to load your save states and load your save while using the latest version

So, how do I save within the game? And not using save states?

That'll depend on the game itself. Some games have save points. Some save data at certain points, etc.

Xenoblade you can save anywhere when you're not in battle, so I just had to load my save state in the old emulator, then save the game regularly. I was able to load that game in the new emulator.

Thx vsub
