Wii Remote Plus Speaker?

Hi all,

I'm having some trouble getting proper sound from my Wii Motion Plus controller. In-game it does nothing. If I go to the home screen and attempt to adjust the volume, I get a crackling/static noise from the wiimote.

I do have dsp_coef.bin and dsp_rom.bin. I've tried using both HLE and LLE, in both Dolphin R7719M and Dolphin "3.0-201-dirty".

Am I doing something wrong on the software end, or is this a hardware problem?

Hmm. Well, I was able to use GlovePIE to send various tones through the wiimote speaker, so it doesn't appear to be hardware related. I thought that wiimote speaker sound was a working feature of the current release of Dolphin. Can anyone confirm or deny that please?

Check this out: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=4731

Looks like it's technically "supported", but the audio emulation is the weakest aspect of Dolphin right now and the wiimote speaker is included in that ...it's tied to the whole HLE = fast, LLE = ...well, I'm not sure exactly, in my experience so far LLE is buggy and sounds horrible, but I guess it helps compatibility or functionality for some games ...something along the lines of EFB to RAM, but for audio ...emulation accuracy ...I don't really know what I'm talking about.

Anyways, it'd be cool to have the wiimote speaker working someday, but Dolphin runs so well already & I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth Undecided I like to have people over and tell them I bought a Wii, play for a while, then suddenly jump up in surprise yelling "OH MY GOD WHERE DID THE WII GO WTF"
