Wii Remote 2 Disconnected by Emulated Software

My friend and I are trying to play Bakugan Battle Brawlers for the Wii. We followed the Dolphin netplay instructions but every time we try to launch the game we're met with the errors in my screenshot. When Wii remote is disconnected by the emulated software we can push a button on remote 2 in order to reconnect the Wii mote but it crashes the game. Any ideas on how we should solve this issue?

Try selecting co-op/multiplayer mode before the second player is allowed to connect the wiimote.
