I don't really want to, at least until my hunch that it's a bug is proved to be wrong. Are you able to get it running full speed in 2-player mode? I can't imagine it ought to be more demanding on the CPU than the likes of SMG2, Skyward Sword, Mario Kart or any other games I own.

Hey I'm actually having a lot of trouble getting this to play at all. It runs fine until it's time to choose someone to fight. Then when it comes time to fight it runs super slow. I can't figure it out at all. I've tried a lot of older revisions as well as new ones and they pretty much produce the same exact result. I've tried different combination of things being checked and unchecked. I typically use 3.0-688 since it runs all my games just fine with no issues. Any ideas?
My specs:
AMD FX 6100 Six-Core Processor 3.30GHz
8GB RAM
Radeon HD 6850 1GB

I've tried 3.5 already. Doesn't work at all. Gives me the same exact results. The same exact result is 28 - 35 FPS when selecting the fighter. In the fight is just stays at around 30 - 40 sometimes drops to 27 but that's it. Every time. No matter what settings I use.
My specs:
AMD FX 6100 Six-Core Processor 3.30GHz
8GB RAM
Radeon HD 6850 1GB

Your CPU is too slow for this game. Try to overclock

CPU too slow my ass... it's a software issue. I have a slower CPU (Intell Q6600 at 2.6GHz) that runs Punch out at the same damn speed... It runs Super Smash Bro's Brawl at 80-90% consistently and my CPU never breaks the 70% barrier. There is no way Punch out is twice as demanding. Same results with the 10 or so suggested versions as well as trying the latest every now and then.

I've scoured the net to find a solution only to run into the asinine "it works for me just fine" line over and over.
