YAY, it's over 5000 (posts) !!!! Big Grin
That I have, I got a water cooldown system. If it stays in the bios, it shouldn't be a problem. But I don'mt want to touch the hardware....

I give up on this game. I've tried all suggested configs here and I can't get it past 20 fps. I tried lowering the internal resolution to x1 but even that won't change a thing. I'm using version 3.5-1307

This is the third game I've had framerate problems, the others are WWE '12 and No More Heroes. And I've played several other games without this specific problem.
CPU: AMD FX 8350
Memory: 8GB RAM at 1600MHz
GPU: Radeon R7 260X 2GB
Soundcard: onboard Realtek ALC889

Your CPU is a bit weak for these three games (very demanding). Try to overclock if you can

Certain games are more demanding than others. I am sure this problem is specific to just you, honestly ... well, maybe a handful of others out of thousands (that know their computers limits).

Everything has an impact on FPS - your internal resolution, your resolution itself, the amount of AA you applied, and unless your video card is complete sh*t, AF may also hinder you ever-so-slightly.

Do you have a 4ghz + CPU with multiple cores? Do you have a video card that has more than 512~1GB of vRAM? (That's VIDEO-RAM on your VIDEO CARD -- not the amount of System Ram)? Do you have a crackerjack box motherboard (aka something from Walmart, or did you build the PC yourself with quality parts?)

If you have no idea what i am talking about, or answered "no" to many of these questions ... well, then we found your problem.

EDIT: Never meant to insult you, and just noticed you do indeed have your specs mentioned in your sig. I failed to see that, thus keeping my un-editied original response in case any others see it and realize something they should have realized.

You shouldn't have many problems with this game, actually. Try going to the wiki page, or the first page of this thread and try some of those configs; instead of the "old" ones listed on the old forums. Try OC'ing your CPU, even if you have a stock cooler. No need to go crazy, just try upping it a little. There is quite a few guides online, and I'd recommend IC Diamond paste. ArticSilver stuff is just legacy that a lot of people still use .... for legacy reasoning.... which is stupid : )

Thx guys, though I'm really afraid of overclocking it with a stock cooler I'll try it just a little to see what happens

EDIT: That IC Diamond, I've never heard of it before. After checking it out I found out why: it's not selling in my country. It probably never was. And that's why I've been using Arctic Silver through all those years on different processors. Thx anyway.

EDIT2: To avoid a double post, I'm editing this one to tell you about my tests.

First of all, I'm using this config:
  • Direct 3D9, VSync OFF and Fullscreen Resolution 1366x768
  • Internal Res. x1 (Native)
  • Anti-Aliasing NONE
  • Anisotropic Filtering x1
  • Scaled EFB Copy ON and everything else on Enhancements is OFF
  • Hacks I left ON: Ignore Format Changes, EFB Copies RAM w/ Cache Enabled, Texture Cache FAST, OpenMP (...)
  • External Frame Buffer is disabled, because enabling makes the game look unplayable
  • I tested both DSP HLE and DSP LLE
I tested using stock clock first (3.4GHz) and got 20 fps on the main menu and 15 fps in game. Then I tested using the maximum overclock settings my stock cooler allows, which is 3.9GHz and got the exact same FPS results no matter what config I use (HLE or LLE). I've even tried using 2x Internal Res. and nothing changed.

I really don't know what to think about these results.

Zelda Twilight Princess (GC), on the other hand, changes a lot while overclocked. The game never goes above 30 fps, but once I tested side by side with the Game Cube, on the same TV of course, and from my perception the GC also has this limitation. Anyway, inside Goron's caves I was getting 25 fps while using LLE. After the overclock, it now floats between 27 and 30 fps which is basically full speed.

Your CPU is too weak for using "EFB copies to RAM". Use "EFB copies to texture" instead
Right-click the game - Properties - Enable "vbeam speed hack"
AMD 6770 can handle 3xIR on demanding games and 4xIR on most games , no AA , 16xAF
Set Framelimit = 30 FPS (PZII is a 30 FPS game) and tick "limit by FPS" (Make sure both Vsync and Audio throttle are disabled)
Btw , do not enable "per-pixel lighting" otherwise you will lose speed ingame

Edit : Just tested the game with my laptop
+Dolphin 3.0 (Per pixel depth is disabled):
_EFB2texture : 27 -> 30FPS (near full speed) .
_EFB2Ram (enable cache): 16->18 FPS (unplayable)

+Dolphin 3.5 stable verion , 3.5 145 and 3.5 1xxx
_EFB2texture : 25-26FPS (a bit slow but bearable)
_EFB2Ram(enable cache) : 20 FPS (Too slow)

These results are Framerate ingame
Graphic settings : 2.5x Internal Resolution (1600x1320) , no AA , 16xAF
Vbeam hack is enabled

I had the same problem, but when I switch to Direct X11 it worked. The game is crashing each time a black and white scene is hapening with Direct X9. It's sad because the game is working better most of the time in X9, X11 has some visual glitches, but it run fine the black and white scenes, so I'l try to use it more often.

What visual glitches are present with D3D11? And can you describe the behavior of the D3D9 crashes (where it crashes, how often, etc)? Do these problems exist with OpenGL? Give me the details and I'll put it up on the wiki. Crashes are a big deal.
