Wii pointer not working...

Hi guys, I recently tried to get The Metroid Prime Trilogy, but when I get into the main menu, the pointer does not appear at all. I am currently using mouse and keyboard, and had set the IR to Cursor inputs onto my mouse. However the pointer does not show up whatsoever and I cannot select anything in the game. Please help
