Ok so I've spent the last few hours messing around and figuring out what works best for me with this game and I thought I'd share my findings.
For anyone having problems with Dolphin 2.0 and NSMB (crashing, framerate, etc.) try the latest release (5555) from http://www.dolphin-emu.org/download.html - that solved a number of my problems immediately. After that I got the game to run without crashing but was still having framerate slowdowns from world 2 on. What I did to solve it was turn EuRGB60 OFF, framelimit OFF and audio throttle OFF - but V-sync ON. While the emulator says the game is running faster than it should, V-sync is in fact locking the framerate at 60 and the game is definitely running normally. I got significantly better results with this than any other combination of those 4 settings (and I tried em all). Of course you also need to make sure and get the version of the game which matches your TV/Monitor - I was running the PAL version initially and got some really ugly telecine judder with 50fps but the NTSC version quickly solved that problem. The game is running astonishingly perfect now, 60fps constant on every level I've played (up to 3-3). I'm playing at 1280x720 with anistropy and hires textures on but no AA. Not the highest settings but considering my PC is far from top-of-the-line (Q6600, 4gig, 8800GT, win7 X64) I'm happy with it. Hope this helps anyone still having issues, and thanks to those on this thread who guided me in the right direction. 06-01-2010, 08:42 AM
I am pulling my hair trying to get this to work. Every single configuration I try, world 1-1 goes pretty much dog slow, even with framelimiter & audio throttle off; frameskip at 5. :|
My specs look ok: Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6Ghz (pumps up to 2.4ghz when the game is running) 4GB DDR3 RAM ATI Mobility Radeon 5730 Running Windows 7 x64 06-01-2010, 08:50 AM

Once I get my new fan I'll go back to OC at around 3ghz, but the game is running fine with no OC. (06-01-2010, 08:42 AM)denatic Wrote: I am pulling my hair trying to get this to work. EFB copy to texture? All of those things greatly improved my performance in addition to the settings I posted above. 06-01-2010, 11:48 AM

Unlimited JIT Cache - this option doesn't exist anymore and is not needed, iCache is now (almost) emulated
LLE DSP on thread and DSP on thread are basically the same thing Use the JIT Dynarec - it was replaced with "CPU Emulator Engine" dialog (Jit, JitIL & Interpreter) Watchdog - optional, you can find it as a patch here on forums |
