For anyone having problems with Dolphin 2.0 and NSMB (crashing, framerate, etc.) try the latest release (5555) from http://www.dolphin-emu.org/download.html - that solved a number of my problems immediately.
After that I got the game to run without crashing but was still having framerate slowdowns from world 2 on. What I did to solve it was turn EuRGB60 OFF, framelimit OFF and audio throttle OFF - but V-sync ON. While the emulator says the game is running faster than it should, V-sync is in fact locking the framerate at 60 and the game is definitely running normally. I got significantly better results with this than any other combination of those 4 settings (and I tried em all).
Of course you also need to make sure and get the version of the game which matches your TV/Monitor - I was running the PAL version initially and got some really ugly telecine judder with 50fps but the NTSC version quickly solved that problem.
The game is running astonishingly perfect now, 60fps constant on every level I've played (up to 3-3). I'm playing at 1280x720 with anistropy and hires textures on but no AA. Not the highest settings but considering my PC is far from top-of-the-line (Q6600, 4gig, 8800GT, win7 X64) I'm happy with it.
Hope this helps anyone still having issues, and thanks to those on this thread who guided me in the right direction.
Amazing dude, now works perfect!!!!
P.S NOT WORKING EVEN WORST
