[Wii] New Play Control! Pikmin 2
|
Anyone have this game? A wiki editor put in the skip EFB line, and well, I don't buy it. He uses the build from that OTHER place, for one. And that function shouldn't fix cinematics. Can anyone test this?

I've had a serious problem for a long while now with this game on both PAL and US versions on the game on numerous PCs, and currently using the latest dev build (7159) from the website. It's starts up fine with the menu and intro cutscene but the moment the game kicks in with the Valley of Repose the framerate slows to a crawl and renders the game unplayable.
I've tested this on my main PC (specs in my profile), and both my laptop and two older PCs all with the same issue. I've just finished the New Play Control Pikmin 1 on Dolphin and it's worked pretty much flawlessly, but this game on the otherhand just flounders and just breaks after the unskippable cutscene each and every time (making it a total pain to test once you've Dolphin changed settings options too, and I've not tested the GC version, but would much rather use the Wiimote controls anyway). Please can anyone help? 08-07-2015, 07:56 AM

After testing both the PAL and US versions of the GameCube game past day 3 on both, they work absolutely fine in the latest Dolphin build, so it's only the (sadly much better and superior) Wii Play Control version of Pikmin 2 that has these serious issues. If anyone else could test it and see if they have similar occurrences, or any possible reasonings as to why this happens it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance! This is both one of my favourite Wii/ GameCube games and RTSs in general, so it's a real shame that it's so under-documented. 08-08-2015, 10:51 AM
Try checking "Skip EFB Access to CPU", maybe it uses it for the IR and it tanks performance.

Just posting to confirm the problem in the cut scenes and that enabling this option makes the game smooth as butter as far as I can say after a short test. My uninformed guess, purely based on observation, is that it might have something to do with particle effects in the cut scenes. Anyway, thanks to JMC47 for the tip! |
