I am trying to find the best way to modify the display title and/or ID of Wii games. I have tried several methods with varying levels of success, but I'm not entirely satisfied with any of them so far. I would like to know a better way of doing this if it exists and I also have some questions in regard to modifying both of these values. The first method I have attempted that seems to be the most successful is modifying the `opening.bnr` file with string corruption using a hex editor. I would like to know which file contains the true title ID string, I thought it was `boot.bin` but after modifying the string in this file I have found that it changes nothing I can notice. One tool that would appear to do both of these would be the patching function found in Wii Backup Fusion, but I can't get my changes to be applied no matter how I go about doing so. I'd like to know if there are better or less destructive tools out there for these purposes and I would also like to know what the maximum character lengths of the title and ID strings are. I am aware of using a custom titles file, but I need to do this for a patched game. Using a custom titles file will change the name of both copies of the game.

Your best bet is Wiim ISO Tools. I used it to hard patch Fatal Frame 4 and it allows you to specify ID and internal game title via editing setup.bat or possibly editing the header.bin in the disc folder of the extracted game. It might also just give you the ability to patch the ISO without needing to rebuild it, but I'm unfamiliar with all of WIT's commands. I recommend reading the documentation. It's a very powerful tool. It's only real downside is it lacks a GUI.
