With HLE, volume for sound effects are randomized in Prime 1 and 2: shoot something repeatedly and the first shot is barely audible and the second is so loud it distorts. And with HLE Prime 3 can stall out if an audio cue is misssed. LLE is definitely important if you want a decent audio experience with these games, especially in Prime 1 and 2. Also, you should note that BGM is fine with LLE in builds before 3.0-684. I need to add that to the wiki.

So you are telling me that with 3.0-750 and EFB to Ram in D3D9, you're running full speed? On a Core 2 Quad at 2.8ghz? Ooookay. My Core 2 Duo E6750 at 3.2ghz (same clock per clock performance as yours) couldn't even get close. You want to know why your computer can run it at a decent framerate? Thankfully you posted your settings, so we can find out.

"Skip EFB Access to CPU" is on. You killed all the EFB effects (i.e. anything that would use EFB to Ram) by doing that. Turn that off, kill any frameskipping you have, and let's see how your computer really performs.
with my oced cpu, im able to handle the "big three" (zelda, mario and metroid) really 95% of the time @ fullspeed, and that VERY close, if the i5 2500k would be only a bit weaker, there would be much more lag..
In SMG there are spots, where I even doubt that an i7 could handle em at fullspeed, for example @ the base this spot there you can walk in, and the game zooms out very fast then..
