Anyone got this game and tried it with dolphin yet? I'm getting mine either today or tomorrow, can't wait to see what speed tricks still work.

And also curious to see if the sound from MP2 will work better on Dolphin from this one as the MP3 sounds seem to work perfectly and I would have to assume they used the same Ucode from it.

When I get it, I'll rip it and try it, and post the results here, but I'm prob gonna be playing it on my wii first for a bit Big Grin

Quote:Interestingly, the game starts just fine! I expected to see the same "insert disc" error that SSBB NTSC gives.

Unfortunately, only the bootloader runs. The trilogy loads a boot menu of sorts that plays an intro video, allows you to pick a Mii (to represent your savegame), and allows you to choose your game and the game's difficulty (normal or veteran).

Before choosing the game, however, the game will attempt to connect via WiiConnect24. Just wait until it times out and continue.

I've noticed on my Wii that the Wiimote disconnects and then reconnects after I have picked the game I want to play. This suggests that the loader points to the appropriate gameboot. I suppose this is why Dolphin cannot continue as loading another gameboot is probably not supported at the moment. You just end up with a black screen and frames no longer being rendered.

Looks like it makes it only so far... =(

Well the game is prolly DVD9 to fit all the games on it, so Dolphin must be having trouble reading the DVD9 when the bootloader wants to load the game from a certain spot that might be on the 2nd side, idk, else I can bet the game works fine if the disc worked 100%, its basically the same game from the gamecube version but (I think) it has wiimote support, so you can aim with the wiimote in MP1/MP2.

Well, it's basically 2 NPC Wii games + 1 Wii game, nothing more.

I think the problem is not related to DVD9 but to the fact that there are multiple dol's on the disc (one for each game plus one for the frontend). The moment you go from the menu into a game it is supposed to switch to another dol but Dolphin doesn't support this and goes to blackscreen. From what I gathered from other forums it seems that backup-loaders show the same behavior and people have to activate some workaround option or something like that?
Anyway, the Wii Version of Metroid Prime supposedly had the same problem and that one was definitively a single-layer.

So the question is: Could support be added to Dolphin for loading another dol at runtime? Or alternatively: Would it be possible to modify a disk image so that instead of the menu it would load directly into one of the games, avoiding the problem altogether?

true but not true, the wii versions of MP1 and MP2 are changed, I've read that certain "sequence breaking" techniques no longer work, such as the early space jump technique in MP1, and all scan dashes no longer function the same, so they aren't direct copies. They are altered.

So I think what wea0 is saying is true. It has the game "files" on the disc and simply calls them from the bootloader of the main wii disc. so it probably needs implementation, which would probably fix the zelda collectors edition game as well for the GC. as it probably functions in the same exact manner, loads a bootloader and then boots the requested game.

hello,

I tested Metroid Prime trilogy on Dolphin by switching the main .dol by the .dol of metroid prime 1 in the iso.

And when i start game Metroid Prime 1 start directly but no loading save game is posible. And the game is slow (on My core2duo @4GHz)

Ps : The game haven't sound (MP1) Dolphin say try to use DSP LLE plugin (but it doesn't work (I dump my dsp.rom on My Wii))
Excuse me for my bad English I'm a little French, which uses google translated most of the time.

Did you start the unmodified version first inorder to create a save-file from the main menu? Can you please give instructions what steps you took and what programs you used to modify the iso in such a way?

I didn't realize that game would be one of the games that use soft reset to run another dol. Dolphin only supports running 1 dol at a time, the core doesn't support soft reset to run another dol.
