If the black screens are during the cut scenes, there are 2 important things that you need to ensure. First, make sure you are using either the DX9 plugin or OGL. Second, make sure that you have the metroid other m projection hack enabled. You can do this by right clicking the game and selecting properties. If the black screens are occurring randomly in game-play, you can try switching between first and 3rd person or reloading the game. 12-12-2010, 08:20 AM
btw, have the issues with the projection hack been confirmed or was it just one guy? I'll wait to play this game through in Dolphin until it's fullspeed for me.

Unconfirmed as far as I know...I believe he posted the same things on google code and then later stated it was happening in theater mode. Since then, I have finished the game with no problems and even made sure it was working in theater mode; therefore it seems the problem is limited to only him at this point.
Would be helpful if he clarified the following: 1) Is the same problem occuring when the projection hack is disabled (i.e is the projection hack causing this problem)? 2) What settings and hardware he is using. If the projection hack is not causing the problem as I am currently assuming, he probably has some other irrelevant issue such as a dated driver or something. If the projection hack is causing the problem (noone else has reported this issue) then it could be removing a wrong projection layer based on some hardware/setting. 12-12-2010, 09:17 AM
yeah, well, since until now I've only heard from that one person, I guess it's not an issue with the proj hack.

Not Sure if you guys are talking about me but I posted a while ago with no responses that I have been having issues with the Flash back videos not showing up (see attachments). I can get the regular cinematic to show thanks to the proj. hack but with or with out the hack i cant get the pre rendered videos to show. It has been like this since the game came out (all revisions since). I'll see if i can get you my system specs in a minute but i can tell you my dx is up to date and so is my nvidia video drivers and using the latest dolphin revision (r6566). I've tried dx9, dx11 and OpenGL plug-ins and all of the enhancement settings turned on as well as trying it bare minimum and none have worked so far. If anybody else is able to see these videos please tell me your hardware and settings.
Again the Cinematics work great its the pre-rendered videos that are the problem. 1st attachment is snapshot from youtube video 2nd attachment is what i see. Every single flashback video is like this. and tried both Theater Mode as well as in game. Here is my specs... Wow very similar to yours StripTheSoul Core2Quad Q6700@2600MHz / Asus P5QL-VM DO / 4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM / Geforce 8800GTS (G92-512MB) / X-Fi XtremeMusic / Win7 Pro 64bit / currently using Ps2 controllers hoping for wiimotes soon. Also as far as settings are concerned. Ive tried every setting listed in this forum and even some trial and error on my part and still no luck but again if yours works please post your system specs and dolphin settings.

Ok...so just to be clear this is not an issue with the projection hack as you have had this problem with the revisions prior to it. Also just so you are aware, no-one else is having this problem afaik. If you are sure everything is up to date, maybe it is just a bad iso?

Correct. This was not broken by the Projection Hack. Yeah I was thinking bad rip, since no one else has replied or mentioned this problem before. I'm not sure if I'm going to have time to do another rip for atleast a few days so I'll let you guys know as soon as I can.

Woot!! so I was able to get some time to make another rip. This time it worked. I can now view the flash back videos. Thanks for the tip.

But it breaks the menu where Samus appears in the background. without projection hack http://img163.imageshack.us/i/r3oe011.png/ with projection hack http://img600.imageshack.us/i/r3oe012.png/ And where in parts of gravity, the hack breaks through the projection effect. without projection hack http://img687.imageshack.us/i/r3oe013.png/ with projection hack http://img72.imageshack.us/i/r3oe014.png/ And when you walk into the water, the color stays the same when is out of the water. with projection hack http://img251.imageshack.us/i/r3oe016a.png/ without projection hack http://img813.imageshack.us/i/r3oe016.png/ with projection hack http://img214.imageshack.us/i/r3oe015.png/ And turn off the "Motion Blur" What happens with "Speed Booster" with projection hack http://img442.imageshack.us/i/r3oe0110.png/ without projection hack http://img831.imageshack.us/i/r3oe0112.png/ without projection hack http://img34.imageshack.us/i/r3oe0113.png/ Now the "projection hack" to fix the black screen in the scenes, fixing an effect of illumination (Samus, place, etc. ..) with projection hack http://img222.imageshack.us/i/r3oe017.png/ without projection hack http://img440.imageshack.us/i/r3oe018.png/ without projection hack http://img828.imageshack.us/i/r3oe019.png/ Almost forgot the projection hack, fix completely random black screens during gameplay (when I disable receive one of these "random black screens)
