can you narrow it down to a smaller range of commits?
bisect until you find a small range of commits that it is broken in.
example:
try
4.0-884
if menu is english, try 4.0-442
if menu is japanese, try 4.0-1326
divide the versions in half until you can say
on 4.0-xxx menu is correctly in japanese, but on 4.0-xxx +1 it is broken
