Are there any plans to fix the Wii Menu? Pre-Dolphin 4.0, the Wii Menu, and all of it's menus were fully functional. Now, it simply hangs when attempting to launch the Disc channel, Mii channel, etc.

Also, would it be possible, for when launching a Wii game from the dolphin menu, instead of launching directly into the game; it launch to the Wii menu, and the game would be selectable via the "Disc Channel" as the actual Wii would? I know this may be "low priority", but it is undoubtedly apart of the Wii experience, and as far as I know, the point of emulation is to emulate/enhance the experience.

Edit: Apparently I can't read.

Disc Channel has never worked to my knowledge, I don't know about the other channels. I'll see if I can reproduce the other channels not working though.

The Wii Menu does boot, though for you, right?

Edit 2: I can confirm it's no longer working. Make an issue report and track down what build broke it and it'll be much, much more likely to be fixed.

That will be extremely difficult to determine. Instead of being portable, recent Dolphin builds have made every build I use refer to C:\Users\KruZ\Documents\Dolphin Emulator. I remember back in 2010, build 3.0 5778 I believe, the Wii menu was fully functional. I could launch games from the disc channel, and I had the Mii channel/virtual console channels which were also fully functional.

disc channel definitely worked at one point, needed to have disc/menu have the same region and use the same ios version iirc

Yes, in fact almost everything that had to do with the Wii menu was functional. You could even exit games via the home button and return to the Wii menu with no issues at all. I'm still trying to pinpoint exactly which build broke it.

Don't bother - it's known. 3.5-1301. Something about the expanded ES_launch functionality killed multiple wiimotes, and the developers were faced with a choice; either 4 wiimotes or wii system menu launch functionality. The wii system menu took the hit.

Bummer. :/ There has to be a way that both can function in harmony simultaneously. The line(s) of code which initially broke the Wii menu needs to be reevaluated. There must have been a shortcut/work around taken. I'm sure fixing this will fix many other underlying/minor problems that are not yet known. The more accurate, the better. Hopefully this isn't just swept under the rug and forgotten as if nothing happened.

Create an ugly hack so the broken ES_Launch only comes up when there are 4 WiiMotes connected Big Grin
