I checked to make sure my dump of the game and NAND are good, and they are. Renaming the Dolphin Emulator folder and starting from scratch didn't fix the problem either. My specs are: Windows 10 (x64), Intel Core i7-6700K, 16GB Ram, GTX 970, Dolphin 5.0-5755 My settings are: -General: CPU Emulation Engine - JIT Recompiler -Audio: DSP LLE Recompiler, Audio Backend - XAudio 2 -Graphics [General]: Backend - Direct3D 11, Adapter - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 97 -Graphics [Enhancements]: Internal Resolution - Native (640x528), Anisotropic Filtering - 1x, Scaled EFB Copy, Force 24-Bit Color -Graphics [Hacks]: Ignore Format Changes, Store XFB Copies to Texture Only, Fast Depth Calculation, Disable Bounding Box
Well, something really weird is going on. I can confirm the issue, if you already have a save file, then everything is fine, if you don't have any save file and try to create a new Dancer Card it keeps loading forever. What doesn't make sense is that I tried 5.0-4877 today (which I'm 100% sure that it worked when I submitted that test entry) and now it also doesn't work anymore, hanging loading forever after creating the dancer card (the same happens with 5.0 stable, which I also tested in the past and confirmed it worked). Dolphin needs VC++ Runtimes to work, so I can only speculate a recent Microsoft update messed up something with Dolphin (it wouldn't be the first time that happens). I'll dig further and keep you guys informed...
Edit: Dolphin 4.0.2 also experience the same issue but Dolphin 3.0 works fine (?!) Edit 2: I suspected it were something related to Visual 2015/2017 Runtimes (which were when Microsoft started splitting the runtime in different parts in order to update them independently), so I tested Dolphin 4.0-7528 (which AFAIK was the last Dolphin build compiled with Visual Studio 2013) but it also hangs. Dolphin 3.0-era builds were compiled on Visual Studio 2010 and does't suffer from the hang, so now I have no idea of what's going on (although I still think is related to the runtimes). I definitely need to bisect this...

Okay, I bisected. Dolphin 3.5-1936 is the last working build. The next build after 3.5-1936 is 3.5-2143 which is the merge of wii-network branch. Creating a Dancer Card in 3.5-1936 then transferring the save file to the current development build works around the issue. As I said, this doesn't make sense since current builds used to work just fine. I'll test in a VM a vanilla install of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update without any system update applied, I still think it's something related to VC++ Runtimes...

You're running on Windows 10, it'll update itself automatically regardless of what you do. VC++ Runtimes, for example, can be updated without even needing to reboot the system...

Just solved an issue:
I used to play just fine with steady FPS and not many glitches (once in a while a hiccup) but since the end of March the game had a terrible framerate, about 5fps on average but nothing had changed on my pc that would explain this and no other game had such issue. So I started some tests and found out that if I turn off every connection to the internet the game would play just fine. this also happened (and fixed) old entries on the series too. So if anyone is having the same problem I have jsut turn off the Wi-Fi/DSL Cable and you'll be just fine. |
