Hello,

Hopefully this is in the right area.  I recently received a Mayflash Dolphinbar (updated to current firmware) and am using an official Nintendo Wiimote (non-Motion+) and nunchuck on the newest nightly build of Dolphin (5.0-15407.)

my Pc specs are:
Amd Ryzen 5 3600 3.6Ghz
Zotac Nvidia RTX 3070Ti
Oloy DDR 4 3200 (32gb - 16x2)
GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ELITE

I have been able to use my Wiimote  just fine while playing Fatal Frame 4 (could move the flashlight up and down and very slightly left and right. enough to play but seemed really sluggish) and the buttons are working without issue. Any game that requires the IR pointer though are unplayable. I attempted to play Mario Galaxy and when I am being told to point the Wiimote at the screen to choose a planet before you can start the game, I get no cursor and thus cannot start. This is also the case in Galaxy 2 so it isn't (to my understanding) a glitch for just this game.

My controller is configured as "real wii remote"

  • I have already checked with my phone and all 10 IR lights are working (Just received the dolphinbar yesterday)
  • I have already tried multiple distances between 1 meter and 10 meters with no success
  • I originally had the Dolphinbar plugged into a usb port on my keyboard and thought maybe it wasn't getting enough power so I plugged it directly into the rear of my PC into a usb 3.0 port
  • When I pressed the home key on the wiimote for the first time, for a split second I could see the hand, but it immediately disappeared and hasn't come back since.
  • I have the Dolphin bar set to mode 4 and I have tried with the switch on the back set to top and bottom as well as in Dolphin itself under the wii config settings to match whichever setting the bar is on. Neither worked for me.
I am kind of at a loss as to what the problem may be. Does anyone have any other suggestions or any idea what I might be doing wrong? The only thing I can think of is that somehow the Wiimote itself is defective? It was sitting in a bag for years and I just dug it out today and put fresh batteries in to test it on my pc.  It is not a Motion plus wiimote (I don't know if that matters or not.)

Thank you very much to anyone reading and to anyone that replies.

Here is what I did...

1. Try switching the Real Wii Remote to an Emulated Wii Remote.
2. Then click "Configure" right next to that.
3. In that new window, At the top underneath "Device", it should say something in the dropdown like "DInput/0/Keyboard Mouse".
4. If you already have your Wii Remote connected via Bluetooth, then you can click the dropdown arrow and click "Bluetooth/0/Wii Remote".
5. Then click the other dropdown under "Profile", and switch it to the one that says something like "Wii Remot...g (Stock)".
6. Click "Load".
7. Click "Close" at the bottom

Thanks very much for the reply.

I just tried to do what you described and once I am in the wii remote 1 configuration screen (step 3) it only shows  "dinput/0/Keyboard Mouse."

Tried refreshing multiple times and didn't get anything to show up (even though I had my wii mote connected) so I decided to just try your next step and I did see "Wii rem... (stock)" so I chose that option and loaded it.  Now I can see [disconnected] Bluetooth/0/Wii Remote" on the device menu, but it still shows no change whether connected or not. Decided to just load up galaxy to test if anything changed and as soon as the "don't be a knob and throw your wii mote" warning is up it immediately tells me to connect the nunchuck to the wii mote (even though it is) and reports that my battery is dead. For some reason, on the blue leds on the wii mote, the 1st and 3rd were lit up during this time.  I'll keep plugging away at it but thank you very much for chiming in and giving me another angle to try.
