Wii Homebrew (wiiuse)

I was delighted to see wii homebrew load right up, but then I realized the controls weren't working. Is it possible to get it working and if it is do I have to compile my own version?

edit: well I can't get most homebrew apps I downloaded to work, but simple things I made seem to work except no controls.
