can anyone tell if this game actually playable at full speed? the fps I get are very random, lowest 12 and highest 30. but usually on the builds I've tried between 16-22-26.
builds tested;
6515, 7435. I mention those as they were listed on some forums as being great for this game but when I tried the game, although it was playable at times, it was very laggy at random moments.
3.0 low fps
3.5 very low fps
svn builds (messed up audio, stutter)

specs on my system

amd fx 6350 3.9hgz
hd 7850 2gb
w8 x64
8gb ddr3 1333mhz
onboard sound (alc888)

is there a magic build or settings to get it playable at 30fps or are the videos on youtube bogus?

It is. But this game is very demanding.

I guess your CPU is just not powerful enough to get constant full-sped in this game

fair enough. will the emulation be more optimized in the future?

You mean for AMD processors? I don't think so

explains why the performance is about the same in this game from rXXXX to the latest. why do the devs hate amd?

problem solved, CPB doesn't get enabled when using dolphin. disabled it in my bios and set the cpu to the CPB freq 4.2GHz. now the game runs @ 29-30fps.

The game will default to a GameCube controller if you do not go Config>GameCube and then clear the controller port. Otherwise it won't use the Wiimote regardless of whether its connected or not.
