Well first of all hello and sorry for my english!

I'm new here so i just wanted to express my problem in order to finally find a way to play wii and possibly help others. So first of all i would like to thank the community and the devs - contributors for their great improvements over the years and all their support and evolution given to Dolphin project. Thank you guys you are awesome!

Some things about me. I'm left hand disabled since i was born because of brachial plexus injury. Everything else seems to work just fine! So i can play console games as long as i use PS3 styled controllers and pc games by using a 17 button mouse or sometimes by using sixaxis custon drivers for pc. I have tried to play wii but my trial was in vein.

So actually after much research i bought trackir 5 (i am also a sim pilot) which does almost the same thing as wiimote only you can place it to your headset without using any hand.

So i was thinking what if i combine ps3 controller with trackir 5 for the extra axis. Theoretically seems to be working since i haven't tried it yet.

Any suggestions - ideas on how this would become possible? For example i dont know yet how to emulate track ir input into Dolphins GUI.

Thnx in advance!!! I hope this thread will also help others with the same problem as me...

hmm first thing
its possible to combine controlls
i used my xbox360 controller for movement and my mouse for IR Pointer if needed (Monster Hunter 3)
mh i hope it works with only WiiMote because the xbox360 was emulating the gameCube Pad
i hope iam not mistaken... if i remind correct i used it in other games also... iam kind of sure it did worked

problem 1:
if the sixasis motion emulation is recognized by the driver it should be somehow accessable with dolphin
http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/showthread.php?tid=20727&highlight=sixaxis
that thread says it's possible with Motion Joy
but i never tested it...
i thought MotionJoy doesn't support sixaxis motion emulation ö-Ö
use the right deadzones and thresholds

http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/attachment.php?aid=3491
here is a screenshot how it looks like

problem 2:
you need to setup trackir 5 as an controller
but i found out (just googled)
that you can emulate your MOUSE with trackir5

so you can map the mouse movement with dolphin to the axis
and trackir5 should controll them

----
could you post a screenshot of the dropdown device list in dolphin?
and enable "background input"
its just to be secure that every input is forwarded to dolphin

just switch the Device Input in Dolphin and Map the buttons for every device

select Keyboard/mouse
and map the mousemovement(trackir5) to a axis maybe swing and tilt or shake
(if trackir can't controll the mouse and isn't shown in the device list... we are screwed :>)

then select the MotionJoy
and configurate the other buttons

i can't help with the mapping... sorry
never used my ps3 controller for dolphin
and i don't know how you are playing with
my imagination is like that just now
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPjLF_ururc
(sorry if iam attacking you in a way..., i don't know how hard it is, but all my respect one handed is just another league for me, its like playing on hardcore difficlut)

but another question...
did you have some sort of foot pedal controller? or got some expirence with them?
maybe you can combine the accleration or break axis to achieve another axis

(for the future... the i7-860 @2.8ghz is somehow slow for dolphin
maybe you need to overclock the cpu to about 3.6ghz to achived full speed in most games
Dolphin is REALLY cpu HEAVY (it's still an emulator not a native game))

feel free to answer Smile
(i hope somehow we get it work and that you can understand my english... its also not the best :>)

It's pretty much the same as you would use a GameCube/Classic controller. If you tell us which games are you trying to play, we may help you with the best configurations out there. Each game has its owns tips and tricks.

Also, I remember one guy that had a similar problem as you posting on GameFaqs I think, that he wouldn't be able to play Skyward Sword on his Wii because he only could press buttons. I would like to tell him that the Emulated motion plus in Dolphin is fine now. I hope he knows about it. D:

its not...
because he is playing one Handed...
he is using a different playstyle evolved over the years... (i guess)
i can't imagine what mapping he could use...
head tracking...
sixaxis motion...
maybe foot pedal...

could get with 2 points of view... (one showing how he plays, second ingame)
a youtube first place video..
if you ever get this working...
make a video and post it on youtube...
1 week later you can watch yourself on television

(next step would be voice recognationz for swings and attack in skyward which are hooking the controller api and executing the movements on the axis...
50-100lines of code with the right libaries, the right formulated project on a freelancer plattform and you would get that programm for some money)

or just ask some students who could make that as a proof of concept, it would be a nice thesis... i would to this..
if mine is not already done Wink

attack-attack-upperkick-attack-backrollroundhousekick--- swing- finish him--fatality

mom: what are you doing?
me: playing nintendo...
mom: fine.

Most (near to all) wii games can be mapped to buttons. The Classic controller looks exactly the same as a PS3 controller to me, the buttons are all on the same place anyway.

thats true...
but he can't use both sides of the controller..

the left side with digital analog stick and the left shoudler buttons
or the right side with the 4 buttons right shoudlers and one analog stick..

u understand? :>
he can't use the normal mapping

Well i want to thank you all for your responses! So i will try to answer your questions.

problem 1 [FIXED]
Dolphin will detect ps3 controller. I have done it in the past on others emulators. I cant try this right now cause im on vacation, but i will after 2-3 weeks when i will have the controler here in my house.

problem 2 [PENDING]
Yes it is possible to emulate trackir in order to use mouse as input device, but you cant use full 3d axis coverage since its just a mouse being emulated. So obviously dolphin needs a plugin for track ir to operate correctly. Or another utility that will emulate trackir as wiimote.

I have tried enabling "background input" but still nothing. It seems that trackir does not even appear on device selection panel. Only keyboard - mouse is selectable. As for ps3 controller configuration dont worry i got it covered! And actually i hold ps3 controller vertical in my palm and i use ring finger for R1-R2, middle finger for L1-L2, index finger for D-pad and left stick/L3 and thumb for Triangle-Square-Circle-Cross - right stick/L3. So i can use both sides of the controller simultaneously.

No i dont use foot pedals but i have a joystick!

No offense taken! Dont worry!Big Grin

So in general all i want is a utility that will emulate all trackir axis correctly so i can use-select them on dolphin. I will do some googling.

Thnx again! And if you have any questions-suggestions, or even if a dev wants to help me by creating-finding a utility or adding native support for trackir to dolphin feel free to do so! You see if trackir was supported by dolphin many who have the same - comparable problem and others who already have trackir and dont want to buy any extra wiimote would be helped.

BTW here it is the sdk http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/05-developers/developers-pc-game-simulation-sdk.html Personally i dont know nothing about programing. Oh and acording to site: This SDK is only available for developers who are producing games and simulations that will be sold as commercial products to the public.

Sooo maybe a bad idea after all...

you could try to emulate trackIr as a gampad... with third party tools
it should show in the device List...
every kind of gamepad/joystick should work...
(if detected via windows)
