I have recently made some of my wii-games compatible with my Xbox One gamepads by using the tools available within Dolphin. Those are games such as New Super Mario Bros, Donkey Country Returns, Tetris Party Deluxe and Kirby's Epic Yarn. I did so by following some online guides, making a wiimote-profile for each of my 4 Xbox One gamepads and applying the selected lines to each of the game's config files:

[Controls]
WiimoteSource0 = 1
WiimoteProfile1 = profile1
WiimoteSource1 = 1
WiimoteProfile2 = profile2
WiimoteSource2 = 1
WiimoteProfile3 = profile3
WiimoteSource3 = 1
WiimoteProfile4 = profile4

Thereby I had no need to grab my wiimotes while playing those games either with my friends or alone. All seemed well and done, as the game's ran as it should if I ran them from within the Dolphin executable, but since I'm into Kodi and Advanced Launcher, I personally prefer the command-line approach while launching my games.

Somehow, Dolphin crashes on each and every game via command-line if I type in the configuration lines above, giving me a "*** Caught unhandled unknown exception, terminating" popup window. This does not happen while launching the very same games inside the Dolphin emulator.

You don't have to use Kodi and the Advanced Launcher addon to replicate this error, I also created a *.bat file, edited it and wrote: dolphin.exe -b -e "D:\wii images\New Super Mario Bros Wii.iso" inside the *.bat file, and got the very same error-message. If I delete all those lines under [Controls] and launch the games again via command-line (Kodi or *.bat file), the games works as it should again.

This may be a bug in the emulator Dolphin itself, or it may be my PC that's playing me some tricks.

This is a known problem in Dolphin.

I found the same issue in the Bug/Issue tracker here https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/10025

(I was about to post this issue myself, but I had to look through the issue tracker to see if anyone already had written anything about this before).

Hold on: I just tried to replicate this bug in Dolphin 5.0, the Stable version, and I could not reproduce this bug there. Now I will move on to find out which build/development version caused the wiimote-profile crash while launching Dolphin in command-line :-)

Dolphin 5.0-867 is the last downloadable version on the Dolphin site that did not crash before starting a Wii game with custom wiimote profiles via command-line!

After that version, there is one that's only compiled for Mac OS X, version 5.0-876 (don't know about that one since I don't own a Mac).

The next developer version available through the Dolphin site that is compiled for Windows, is 5.0-881, and that is the very first version of Dolphin that get the "*** Caught unhandled unknown exception, terminating" popup window while loading a game with a custom wiimote profile via command line.

I am having this exact issue as well. Looks like the bug report submitted *5 months ago* has made zero progress.

Any ideas on how to get the devs attention on this?

By submitting a PR to fix it.

Nobody has expressed interest in fixing it.
