Hello!
I didn't really know where to put this, so here is my post
I hope it's in the right place!
I bought the DolphinBar alongside a Wiimote 2in1 (included Motion Plus) in a first place. After trying out some stuff, I realized the IR pointer wasn't working.
A quick trip to the local game store to discover cheap used official wiimotes, I grabbed 2 of them with nunchucks and motion plus (it's not the Wiimotes with motion plus inside it, it's that extension you put so your remote looks giant or part of a Power Ranger arsenal where you combine every single power into one).
Long story short, the regular games (non motion plus) work very well BUT the motion plus games (like Wii Play - Motion or other games which incorporate it) seem to struggle with recognizing the extension.
I read here and there on multiple topics some "tips" (or half tips). I tried to search for them but it seems I can't find a central topic where you find all the "Do" and "Don't" with DolphinBar and regular Wiimotes + Motion Plus.
Sometime, it works flawlessly; sometime, it doesn't.
Most of the time, I boot up the game and after the little warning screen, I can move the cursor and after it stops from moving. It can also happen when I try to start a motion plus activity, then it asks me to connect the M+ but then once again, the cursor stop from moving. Sometime, connecting the wiimote with the M+ with nunchuck makes it work but after a while, the game doesn't recognize the wiimote. Sometime, the game recognize the M+ as another extension. When the game don't recognize the wiimote (the cursor stop) it's not just IR since I can't use the other commands (like home button).
I tried with both remotes and the different M+ I have.
TL;DR: - Motion+ games don't seem to work great, the wiimote with the M+ extension aren't recognized at the launch of the game (after the warning screen) or when the game ask me to connect it. The issue isn't IR related as far as I know because the other buttons don't work too.
I am on a laptop using Windows 8.1 x64, 16 gig ram, i7-4710hq HQ and 860m. I don't have trouble with the performances so far (everything is smooth and loading fast!).
I updated the DolphinBar and I also use Dolphin 5.0 (though I also tried the latest development version to see if there would be a difference but no luck there too).
I know some people swear by Bluetooth passthrough but I can't be soldering lately (is it even useful to have BP + DolphinBar?!). If it's useful (and great), I'd love to have your suggestions on a cheap-o and great-o (more great than cheap) bluetooth dongle to configurate. I tried to look at the wiki page on the test of them but can't seem to find good products in France.
Also, sorry if I made grammatical mistakes or if you misunderstand any of what I wrote. I am french and willing to improve every little things I can, so if you don't understand, let me know!
Also, double sorry if a post like this as already been done and if the answer was easy to find (I couldn't
).
Have a great day and end of the year festivities!
EDIT: When I played Wii Sport Resort, I had to disconnect the wiimote (alt+F5), unplug the Wii M+, reconnect the wiimote (alt+F5), replug the M+ WITH a nunchuck and then it recognizes the M+ (when I disconnect the nunchuck). Isn't there another way? Having to walk to the keyboard every now and then (because it STILL disconnects after a while) isn't practical :/
EDIT 2: When I played Go Vacation, the nunchuck was not responding from time to time.
