I'm considering getting a Wii remote and numchucks to hook up to my computer and use with dolphin. I do have a couple questions before I shell out money on them. The remote and numchucks are all that most Wii games require to be played right? From what I understand they use bluetooth which means I will need a usb bluetooth device? Is there a certain brand/style of the remote, numchucks, and usb bluetooth device that is recommended for compatibility issues (win 7 64bit)? Let me know something as i'm anxious to get this setup working.

Bluetooth is the wireless connection used to send data between two devices and the Wiimote handles the "moving" by itself, so bluetooth and "moving" are totally unrelated. In other words: "Move yo body!" works, don't worry about that. I don't think the adapter matters much, I'm using my Notebook's integrated bluetooth adapter using Windows 7's bluetooth connection manager (win7 x64) and it works just fine. Better wait until another forum member without integrated bluetooth and with more experience tells you whether I'm right or not...

I thought that the position of WiiController Cursor is recognized by Infra Red Sensor Bar. How can a Bluetooth Adapter know where the Cursor is ?
And does it know whether I take the stick to hit the baseball, I think you know what I mean. Maybe I did not understand your statement because I am not English ^^
Im too lazy to search for you but its all in this forum, there is even a list of compatible bt dongles. Edit: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_Working_...th_Devices oh look!
And also the info with 2 IR sources is right u can use candles. U need them to know the position. But u need the blutooth to actually transport the data to the pc since it does not work with magic yet. I dont know why the hell they called it sensor bar but it does nothing than emitting IR light and the sensor is in the wiimote itself. Or look for a shop like dealextreme.com and spend incredible 5 dollar on a wireless bar. I also baught the cheapest usb dongle from there but i cant promise it will work since those are all cheap shitty things and you never know what you get =) 12-25-2010, 11:13 PM

The Sensor bar is needed for the Pointer, because the Wiimote doesn't know when it's pointed at the TV, it requires the bar to "see" where the screen is. No the Wiimote doesn't know. If you don't believe me, try swinging the "bat" over your head, instead of around your head, you'll hit either way. The standart Wiimote only knows: 1. The position of the cursor (thanks to the bar) 2. If you move the Wiimote around (thanks to accelerometer inside the Wiimote) 3. The input you make (thanks to all the buttons on the Wiimote) The Wiimote does not know: 1. Its exact position in the room (so it doesn't know if you hold it like a bat or a golf club or anything) 2. Your name. 3. How to speak (and if it does speak, do not follow its advices) (12-25-2010, 09:14 AM)thxmen08 Wrote: Maybe I did not understand your statement because I am not English ^^ Neither am I, welcome to the club

Wiimotes detects only acceleration, not movement. So it can't sense that the galaxy is moving many kilometers pr second...
Hope this added to the discussion. And we should all claim our refund at Nintendo's offices.
Specs: intel i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz;

Well, "if you move the Wiimote around" basically involves accelerations.
Besides, we don't know if thxmen08 would understand if we started speaking about physics. After further reading, I came to understand that thxmen08 got confused over the sensor bar and the bluetooth adapter. Let me make this clear for you: The sensor bar is only meant for the pointer. The pointer cannot appear, if the Wiimote's "eye" can't see the IR sources from the bar (the "eye" is the black surface at the tip of the Wiimote) You can simulate the sensor bar using two candles, two lamps or two of whatever emits IR (infrared) However, the motion sensing (swinging a sword, shaking the Wiimote, whatever...) does not require the bar. Bluetooth is needed for the Wiimote to communicate with the Wii. Thankfully, the Wii uses the same Bluetooth as our computers do (unlike the wireless X360 controllers, that require special adapters)

After doing some research i'm going to answer my own post since the thread didn't really answer my questions.
The Wii remote and nunchuck are all that most games need to be played. There are some games that need the infrared sensor but they seem to be few and far between. In order to use the remote and nunchuck on a pc a usb bluetooth adapter is required (unless your pc has built in bluetooth). So the bottom line is that to use Wii controllers with dolphin on a pc you will need a Wii remote, nunchuck, and a usb bluetooth adapter (unless your pc has built in bluetooth). Thanks for the usb bluetooth adapter compatibility list JackyCola.. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_Working_...th_Devices 12-28-2010, 04:04 PM
I bought a remote, nunchuck, usb bluetooth adapter, infrared sensor, and a 6ft usb cable (to modify the infrared sensor for usb power) all for $26.58. See links below...
