There it was... a crash. Even Dolphin crashed with it. That was faster then I expected it to. It seems to be that it will remain a 3-star game.
Why the compatibility downgrade on Xenoblade on the Wiki?

Uh... I completed the game recently with VERY long sessions and never, ever encountered a single crash. Not even once.

I will also chime in and say that I haven't encountered any crashes with the game either. The wiki has always said there are occasional crashes that happen randomly, but it's never happened to me. I think someone should investigate the hardware/settings of people who get crashes somewhat regularly. If this has already been tried to no avail then sorry for talking out of my ass.

It could be hardware related though we have the same CPU and GPU manufacturers.
I played it 3 months ago. No crashes. I played it a few hours ago. Crash. Dolphin crashed with it, so I think it had something to do with dolphin and not the emulation. I can't recall if my Laptop was in Standby between the start of the emulator and playing the game. Dolphin is (at least for me) notorious for crashing or not responding when leaving the standby. Normally Dolphin won't crash with the game, so can someone who encountered them tell me if Dolphin crashed with Xenoblade? Thx
Hmm weird. I occasionally run this game from time to time, even completed it fully and never encountered a crash. Maybe I am just lucky?

Maybe I am just lucky? 3 people say that they never encounter crashes now. My crash probably happened because of the standby. I will (at least temporarily) purge the problem, because it's so questionable if it even exists. If several people chime in and say "I encounter them", then I (or somebody else) will Undo my following Wiki revisions. Additionally: Nobody can say if these crashes are Dolphin or Xenoblade related. (tell me if I'm wrong) Thanks for all the feedback! (08-01-2018, 07:45 PM)Kimishima Wrote: 3 people say that they never encounter crashes now. My crash probably happened because of the standby. Yeah, there is a difference if the crashes are Dolphin (and with that I mean global issues) or game-specific related. I don't think the rating of a game should suffer too much if it is Dolphin-related. Or every game would need to be affected in their rating. But then again, it could be specific hardware or settings (dual core?) that causes the crashes. But that shouldn't really affect the rating either, since the settings could be worked around. But thanks for looking in these cases. The wiki always could use more fellow editors. There are still plenty of games on the wiki which do not mention available HD texture packs for example (*glares at Ocarina of Time: Master Quest and Super Smash Bros. 64*). 08-01-2018, 08:20 PM

Absolutely, especially if they are so inconsistent. The wiki mentions that neither single nor dual core effect that problem. I will take a look into the HD Textures thread and add missing ones to the wiki. Thank you for the advice! |
