Why people hate Twilight Princess?

Yeah, my faith in you people is restored, since most of you actually agree that TP is a great Zelda game.

I love TP. I just wish bossfights in it were at least some challenge. Apart from the last phase with Ganon, I didn't take a quarter-heart of damage in any other bosses. IMO most zelda games are too easy... but that's just me.

For some odd reason i'm yet to finish this game and you just dropped a major spoiler just finished fighting the twilit boss at the city in the sky, gotta say it was an epic battle, saved state before and replayed again and again and again........acually fighting in the sky *daydreams for some minutes* Who the hell dosent love this game?

Yeah I feel sorry for those who hate it, they can't have experienced much in their lives in terms of good games.
I think one appreciates the game far more if one comes from the old school era and played most of the past Zelda's.

Then one would see how awesome the transformation and development of the series have become.

A game like Twilight Princess could only kick ass and nothing more.

If you look around the internet a bit you'll find the exact reverse. Most of the people who hate TP seem to be long time zelda players and most of the ones who like it seem to be new to the series. This makes sense since if you're new the series and haven't played the older titles you can overlook the games flaws more easily since you haven't been exposed to some of the better titles like OoT or ALttP (nearly every zelda fan considers one of these two to be the greatest in the series). But it's not just the zelda fanbase and players that thought TP was mediocre, nearly all of the reviewers out there rated the game much more poorly than most of the other games in the series.

I've played all of the zeldas except the DS and NES titles since I never owned either of those consoles and I find TP to be seriously lacking compared to the other games in the series in every area except graphics (which I don't really care about). The music, dungeons, level design, dialogue and characters, etc. are all well below the standards set by the other games.

How is fighting Ganon in a Zelda game a spoiler (?!?!).. besides if you paid attention to the story up to that point, you should know it's Ganon anyway.

Well I played and completed them all, even the Philips CD-I Zelda's once (not that I'm proud over that particular achievement) and I have to say that Zelda have evolved to one of the best series of all time.

When I was a little rascal in the early early 90's Zelda 1 and Zelda 2 was awesome games for the NES and I have fond memories of playing Zelda 1 with my father.
I still remember seeing the old man in the first cave saying "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this." and then a sweet little melody played when you grabbed the wooden sword.

Since then I have seen the series grow and grow and grow to something bloody majestic.
Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword are games that have effected me emotionally more then any other games.
Never have two Zelda games felt so alive before.

I was still a kid when A Link to the Past was released and in my early teens when Ocarina of Time was released so it was an entirely different thing playing those back then.
I thought they're both were awesome but what the hell did I know about emotions then.
It was not until years after when I was older I could fully understand these games emotionally.

Games that makes me shed tears is winners in my book and just like Ocarina of Time did, so did Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.

Most of the times when a tear is falling it's probably just because of the flashbacks of all previous journeys but also how awesome The Legend of Zelda have become.

We are all different and yes there will always be people who dislikes things.
Twilight Princess is a keeper and I love playing it again and again as well all the others, they're timeless classics.

I guess we could classify Zelda games players in 4 categories :
1- The ones who have played the whole series (or almost) and are absolute fans. They have some favorite games but they usually like them all
2- The ones who have never played Zelda games. Either they don't like adventure games/RPGs. Either they never got a Nintendo system. Either they say Link is a fag. Whatever...
3- The ones who have played only one game (the youngest of us for example) and say "great!!!". They wanna try to play the other games because they feel they have approached one of the most interesting video games series of the history
4- The ones who have played only one game (still the youngest but not only) and say "not that bad but...". They say there are so many other good games and wonder why this one should be considered as the best one

5. People who have played most or all of the games and have formed an opinion about each one that they have played. They like some, hate others, and think that some are just ok. The vast majority of the zelda fanbase fit into this category.
