I've heard, that problem is the Nvidia driver.
Games that require projection hack Eternal Darkness among others the projection hacks solve some problems, but breaks others, while in AMD (ATI) that nothing happens, ie do not need projection hack and it still works better than Nvidia.
For those with Nvidia often have to use Direct3D11.
