Unlike the amiga days, SMC is not used for speed gains in GC games. The GC game used SMC for virtual memory - allows the game to use more than the 24MB RAM that the GC has.

This sounds more like "save memory by unload a library and load another library".

Sorry. But this is not what SMC is standing for. This is just a simple swap.
