Higan beats Dolphin in a lot of ways as it's supposed to provide perfect accuracy and even goes as far as emulating details of the console that potentially never affect a game or could be emulated at a higher level with less programming effort. If you wanted to make hardware that functioned exactly like one of the consoles Higan emulates, then its source code would be a lot more useful to you than Dolphin's is for some hypothetical nutjob who wants to build a Wii from scratch.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional
CPU: Intel i5 4670K @3.4GHz... for now @4.6GHz with a quick and dirty (yet stable) OC. May get faster in a bit before the end of time.
RAM: 16GB (Down from 24 GB after some was given to siblings)
GPU: Radeon Vega 56

Honestly though, some of things Dolphin devs do, and some of the lengths they go to (ubershaders recently) is above and beyond what a majority of other emulators try to. That's probably why a lot of people point to Dolphin as being one of the best examples for emulation projects. Some of Dolphin's development in the past 4 years falls under what I'd call "insane" from a normal user's perspective.

I could also say the same about PPSSPP, Citra, and RPCS3, but Dolphin was first in this arena of "superstar" emulators (well, maybe higan/bsnes depending on your timeline). We set the example with a lot of stuff (especially organization and media), so that's where all the attention likely comes from even if there is a lot of talent on other emulators.
