Even though it shares the same codebase as the windows build, the linux version will currently be slower due to parts of the JIT core being disabled, also some optimizations were not ported to linux version.
Funny enough, running the windows build under Wine on a Linux system works better than the native build :p

Excellent job, thank you mayhen. With Dual Core off - JIT32, Windows version is still 7fps quicker. However sl1nk3 mentioned that linux build have some parts of JIT core disabled so for now all results say is that Win builds are better maintained.

I'm not a linux user lol. The difference between operating systems should be minimal if all conditions are equal such as drivers, hardware, etc.

So a quick recap here:

1. Linux compatibility has been on the back burner for some time now, so Dolphin clearly isn't optimized for it
2. No DirectX in Linux, which is waaaaaaaay faster than OpenGL in Dolphin
3. Dual core is broken in Linux, which pretty much cuts your framerate in half

Conclusion: use Dolphin on Windows for the time being Smile

Oh by the way.. has anyone tried running a Windows build of dolphin in Wine? It probably sucks big time but it would be interesting to see the results.

Most linux distros should, and do, run far faster than any windows OS due to completely different & lighter kernel structure and lack of unnecessary background processes.

But it's true, the conditions are not equal yet. Some graphics cards have buggy or unofficial drivers for linux, and dolphin is not fully optimized for linux either.

As he is using a nvidia graphics card, the driver should not be the issue, the driver core is the same among all operating systems, there should be no major performance differences.
I can confirm the mayhen's results, I'm also experiencing the same major performance differences between the windows and the linux build of Dolphin.
Nightly Linux Builds (i686 and x86_64) - 64bit build server currently down, sorry
