Bug
So, dolphin runs at an incredibly low FPS when i try to play games on my mid/high end gaming pc. It ran smoothly on my old WORSE gaming pc, so i don't know whats up. I haven't changed any settings in my graphics or my config.

PC specs:
16GB DDR4 ram
Intel i5 7500k 3.4gHz
Nvidia GTX 1060 6 GB

Im running dolphin 5.0 x64

If you want more specifics: Whenever I boot up a game, depending on the games, it will run extremely slow, and i mean at about 8 or 11 FPS. This remains true for any Gamecube game I try to play on it. My PC is set to performance mode, It's temperature is fine, and my clock speed is usually 3.4 or 3.5, even when running dolphin.

EDIT: I should also add, it's not like im trying to play any spectacular gamecube graphical miracle. I'm just trying to play Mario Kart, one of the least intensive games i know about on the GC

that is weird.

Can you post screenshots of:

Config > General

Graphics > every tab

Can we try to rule out your GPU drivers being confused at Dolphin's relatively low workload and clocking down

Nvidia settings > Manage 3D Settings > Program Profiles > Make one for Dolphin.exe > Preferred Power Level > Prefer Maximum Performance

Also, changing dolphin's Performance to max through Nvidia settings didn't help

Graphics > Advanced > Dump Textures > Off

Graphics > Advanced > Prefetch custom textures > Off

Graphics > Advanced > Dump EFB Target > Off

Graphics > Advanced > Frame Dumps use FFV1 > Off

Try disabling dual core. Maybe your system is hitting a weird dual core bug

Config > Enable Dual Core > Off

Changing those graphics settings fixed the issue! I don't know why any of those were selected, as I haven't ever even changed any settings. Thank you so much for the help!

Dual core is on by default and should be kept on unless that caused issues for you.

Dump Textures being on is probably what caused the issues. That's a huge performance issue when just playing games.

Helios, you are a lifesaver! Thanks to you and the OP for this thread. I'm fairly new to Dolphin. I spent almost three hours messing with various settings in Dolphin and my Nvidia console trying to fix the game lag I was getting. I was perplexed because it had worked previously to me using custom textures no prob. Finally it was your clue of disabling the Prefetch custom textures that fixed the problems. Now Dolphin is purring with BEAUTIFUL updated textures, and I am experiencing my Wii favorites in crisp 1080p looking better than I've ever seen them!
