I mean seriously , look at the graphics they are one year behind. How come our computers can't play games like SMG,and Metroid prime at full speed when you can play just about any current gen PC game on the market with full speed. Why do you need so much processing power??AND HOW COME I SEE NOBODY ASK THIS QUESTION AND ANSWER IT ????
Why do you need so much hardware to emulate these games?

This is definitely among the top 5 questions on this site, it is asked all the time... I would've answered you, if it wasn't such a deep philosophical question

Long story short, emulating instructions for a different architecture is significantly slower than code written natively for your processor. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it.

If you knew anything about the Wii/gamecube or any gaming console, you’d know that there is a big difference in the architect between a PC and wii/gamecube.
The more different the hardware the more processing power needed to emulate it. 01-03-2012, 03:17 PM
Here's the most basic explanation that can be given:
The process of emulation takes an exponentially greater amount of processing power than it would take to run the game in its native environment (the console). This is true for every emulator out there. For instance; Psychonauts is a PC and PS2 game. Even though you can run the PC version on an old computer just fine, you would run into a lot of trouble trying to emulate the PS2 version with PCSX2 because the processing power it takes to properly emulate the game is several times greater than it would take to run the game natively (the PC version, in this case). 01-03-2012, 11:58 PM
I read a great article on Ars Technica yesterday pertinent to this. Here you go - http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/...ulator.ars
A very enlightening read.
Don't listen to these losers gabi4play. The real reason is all the devs are lazy but you didn't hear it from me.
You should make your own GameCube/Wii emulator and show them who's boss. |
