I've noticed for a while that the dolphin team has added the option for games to load hi resolution texture packs, i am curious as to who is currently developing texture packs for dolphin games? Even if someone created a good hi resolution texture pack, it would somewhat lower the fps because of increased quality. how could the dolphin cope with the more detailed textures when it is still struggling to get good fps in a good number of games(for example, LOZ twilight princess).

I think it would put strain on your GPU more than CPU, so If you got a good Graphics card it shouldn't slow you down...?

Good Question...

I think the GPU part still decodes every single texture to an OpenGL compatible format, without caching. So we might just speed up Dolphin by exporting all textures and store them in a PC native texture format.
Don't worry about highres textures, as dolphin is clearly CPU bound if you own a mid range GC. As texture processing is done vie OpenGL or DirectX it should have no noticeable impact.

OpenAL? O_o, wouldn't that be OpenGL (since OpenAL is for audio Tongue)

Mario Sunshine Hi Res Textures

Making texture packs of dolphin games I have almost completed my Mario sunshine Hi Res texture pack and am making a luigies masion and Mario kart wii version too, I've been working on a hi res textur pack for Mario sunshine on dolphin, there will be up dates and the will also be posted here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsafgQLbQzQ. I tried to give it similar textures to the original so rather than looking completely different it looks more HD.

Download V.2 here: http://www.mediafire.com/?wk1h13s1kb5qc8t

And see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsafgQLbQzQ

As far as I can tell the textures will not slow down your computer.

To get the gam to emulate fully Try downloading the latest version of dolphin and configure it like this:
Enable dual core
Enable idle skipping and have frame limit off.
Enable load hi res textures
And texture instead of ram.

Also if your computer is really old go into the shaders and chosse 32 bit, the grafix will be shit but it will run.

Here the stats of my Pc

Ram : 4 gb
Operating system windows 7 ultimate
I3 processor OC @4.00GHz
Graphics card NIVIDIA Geforce GTs 450
