Which PC controllers work with Dolphin?

Just wondering which PC controllers are compatible with Dolphin? Also are most/all games playable with the same controller, or do some games require a Wiimote?

Skyward Sword for example, could I play this game with a USB PC controller or would that not work properly? And reccomendations would be appreciated.
After reading through the SS controllers forum I realized that game will indeed not work with a typical PC controller. However does this apply to all Wii games? What of classic titles like Ocarina of Time? Can I simply plug in a classic PC controller and play? Thanks for the advice.

All controllers compatible with PC are also compatible with Dolphin and any other emulator, which can accept inputs from devices other than only the keyboard.
You can easily play all games that support the Classic controller, or the GameCube one, using a USB controller for PC, either wired, or wireless.
In some cases, it can also be enough to emulate the Wiimote alone. If you replace movements with sticks, it is possible. Examples of these are WarioLand and Super Paper Mario.

As I've read in the forums about Zelda Skyward Sword, it's not yet fully compatible with Dolphin and it requires the Wii motion plus expansion.
That is impossible to emulate, using just a controller. And as I've read, the emulated Wii motion plus is still "in construction". It still has lots of problems. I don't know about the compatibility of the real one though.
But someone in the forum also said "Forget Skyward Sword for now", or something like that. I didn't like reading this, but as I understand, you'll have to wait a little longer to play this game.

Your best option is to use real hardware (ie a wiimote+ and a gamecube controller through Ulao's blissbox). However, many games can easily be played with a keyboard and mouse or gamepad. It is possible to play skyward sword with an emulated motion plus build, however, in some parts of the game it's so awkward that it isn't worth it. Also, an XBox 360 controller has almost identical functionality to the gamecube pad, so is a very good alternative to a real gamecube pad.
