I'm getting under 50 fps with SMG 2, would (obviously) like full speed. Please see specs in my signature. Could a new video card give me the extra 10 fps I need, or should I focus on the CPU instead?

Most likely that your CPU is bottlenecking the Dolphin.

Why not overclock your cpu from 3.7 to 3.8ghz at stock vcore? I have phenom ii 970 (almost like yours) and I found 3.9ghz stable. Maybe you'll see slightest FPS increased...

If you want overclock more, aftermarket cooler is needed and increase the vcore (only if your mobo can handle 140w and more)

If you don't mind about Intel (not 100% AMD guy) then why not get new mobo and i5 2500k (or i7 2600k)?

Would the i5/i7 run SMG 2 at full speed without needing to overclock it?

wildonrio: Your setup should be fine for almost any other games, just keep what you have and play something else.

Agreed.

Must get better hardwares just because of 50FPS in SMG2 is just... silly. >_>

Overclock your cpu 0.1GHz more and increase framerate to 70. That way, you could catch up gameplay hours after slowdowns.

Don't forget you're talking about SMG2 one of the most demanding games so 50fps isn't that bad after all Wink and as Starscream and Lucario said you'll be able to play 95% of the games on your stuff so enjoy Big Grin

Just reinforcing what everyone said, you really dont need to upgrade anything, at most a little overclock for a better experience. You could get a new video card, but JUST IF you want to play maximized settings on PC games (on 1920x1080 resolution+).
