Actually the only way to tell is by connecting it to Windows. I looked at my Wiimotes and nothing like RVL-CNT-01 was imprinted.

It's trial and error but white and black Wiimotes should be somewhat safe.

The sensor bar only emits IR rays, which the wiimote tracks. So less conviniently you could use candles/lamps for a sensor bar

ah ok, heres another question for you... are we able to use the WIImotes for other Emulators as a regular controller? Like for a NES or SNES emulator/games?

My bad here...turns out that there is an USB powered sensor bar in existence:

But it's a personal preference I believe. I like the wireless one just because it wireless and no irritating wires all over the place.

wow, I like the HD bar and the "Eyes" which both can be either powered by USB or plug right into an AC outlet.
I would assume the "Eyes" would be better then the bar, you can separate those to max a nice range.
Anyone have experience with these?
