Not sure where this goes, but this seemed the best.

I am wanting to start emulating my wii games through the computer for the better graphics and not having to mess with multiple discs, but I'm not sure how to get started with the hardware I need.

I have an old wii controller and a new one with motion+. What would I need to use these with Dolphin? I have seen someone saying I need an adapter that allows for a certain type of bluetooth connection that the wiimote uses, but I have no clue what that would be.

Jumping in to a forum is not really the best way to go about this. Dolphin has documentation all over and good wiki info. Your best to browse the forums and read up to learn for yourself. Though I will answer your questions.

1) yes you can use your wii remote.
2) You better through down some bills if you want to actually play games at a playable speeds. You can read up on this forum till your blue in the face but the bottom line is sandy/Ivy technology. That means go with intel's latest chips. No need for an i7, as dolphin does not use multi threading, an i5 is perfect. Try to Over Clock it as high as you can. 5Ghz is really a good target.

So, welcome to emulation and dolphin but again please try to read up. Lots of info out there you wont get by asking. If you get stuck we are here to help.

I have already been using dolphin for a few months, and needing new hardware to run it isn't really an issue. i7-3770k and a GTX 670. I have the CPU overclocked to 4.3Ghz, computer crashes whenever I have it set higher.

I have been using an adapter to use GC controller with the computer and emulating my games with dolphin for a few months, I just had no clue how to go about using wiimotes with Dolphin.

To get Wiimote(s) to work you need Bluetooth technology.
The first thing to do is to check if your system is equipped with an in-built Bluetooth adapter or not. If there's no in-built adapter you have to get an external one.
Then your adapter has to be recognized by a Bluetooth stack. Microsoft stack does the job but Toshiba one is a good alternative too.
Once the adapter is recognized you can try to synchronize your Wiimote(s) with the adapter.
When it's done open Dolphin and go into "Wiimote". Choose "Real Wiimote". Pair up if necessary or just use "Refresh".
And now you can play Big Grin

EDIT: A sensor bar is recommended. Above all for games using Motion Plus

I'm going to tag on if you don't mind. I'm thinking about buying Skyward Sword to play on Dolphin, but this means buying a Wiimote Plus. Does the Wiimote Plus work well with Dolphin? I have a bluetooth dongle that is quite old (it's an integral Bluetooth C2), what is microsoft/toshiba stack? Also what kind of connector does the sensor bar have?

It works fine. I could play Skyward Sword without any issue. But a sensor bar is needed.

Just softwares that "make the link" between your Bluetooth adapter and your Bluetooth devices.

Use a wireless sensor bar. The sensor bar is just a source of light spots. Using candles produces the same result. A lot of users have done that Tongue

Thanks, so in theory my Bluetooth dongle should be fine providing I get the MS/Toshiba stack software? Also I'm considering buying the wiimote plus from the US as it's quite a lot cheaper than here in the UK and I have a friend that regularly travels between the two, the US Wiimote plus should work fine with my PC right?

UK or US Wiimote will work yeah. The origin has no importance. But you're more likely to get it to work if your Wiimote is an official one and not a 3rd party one

Thanks WiiMoteConnectSuccess and LordVader, yeah I've read so many bad reviews about the third party wiimotes, official is the way forwards
