Attempting to play Skyward Sword, and getting around 15 fps. Using new Dolphin 5.0 and running at 1080p using an Intel Core i7 4790k processor, Nvidia 970, and 16 GBs DDR3 RAM. Is the problem my hardware, or something else going on?

Please fill out your profile with your specs also Smile

Right-click the game in the Dolphin list, go to properties, go to patches, and enable the hyrule field patch if its not already enabled.

That won't work. This is Skyward Sword, not Twilight Princess.

Make sure you´re not overheating, and that your CPU is at max speed.

My bad, I'm still half asleep Tongue
Try turning down some of your enhancements in the graphics tab.

Also make sure you have a high performance profile in Nvidia Control Panel for Dolphin with the power management set to "Prefer maximum performance" instead of "adaptive"

Yeah , you should check your CPU speed with Realtemp
CPU cooler may not be seated properly or failing water pump (if you use water-cooling) ...
Your PC is very fast for Dolphin btw

It's NOT my hardware then? Okay, that's what I was looking for. Settings I can play with, but makes little sense to play with settings if the hardware itself isn't even up to snuff. Thanks!         Temps are from opening video with I believe Demise? FPS drops right into the teens and becomes choppy.

Disable Vsync for sure will do the trick.

Another option would be to lower the internal res and AA a bit.

SSAA is the most demanding AA . SSAA > MSAA > FXAA
8x SSAA is insane . I'm pretty sure only GTX titan or equivalent GPU could handle that
8x SSAA combine with 3xIR , your resolution is much higher than 4k . In facts , it would be equivalent to sth like 8xIR (5120x4224)

Btw , DX12 supports multi-threading . You should use it instead of DX11 (DX12 is up to 60% faster than DX11 depending on the game)
Edit : By saying GTX Titan , I mean the latest Titan X

Switched to DX12 (Wasn't sure because it said experimental), and changed to 4x MSAA and solid 30 FPS is opening video, and 60 FPS at other times. Think I've got it playable. Thanks!
