Can the dolphin support the quad core?
When will Dolphin use 4 cores?

Dolphin only uses 2 cores if that's what your asking. The developers do not currently have any plans to change that (nor should they imo) and it will still run just fine on a quad core cpu you just won't get any benefit over an equivalent dual core.

u guys have any project to make emulator use 3 or 4 cores???
I have a Phenom X4 2.4 9750 but emulator use only 2 cores.... 2 cores have 100% usage and other 2 cores don't appear be used... the total 4 cores process is 53%, 54% max.... but the only 2 cores in use 100%... my FPS in almost all games is 30, 45 FPS because it.... Have how i use 3 or 4 cores in this emulator???? Thks! 04-22-2010, 11:55 AM
It won't, there is nothing else that can be split onto separate cores. The video and processing core are already on separate cores when running in dual core mode, the only other thing is running LLE sound on another core which is quite unstable right now. HLE sound can not be run on a separate core and it would be a waste of time to try making HLE sound run on a separate core since it uses very little CPU.
when noobs stop asking and give the devs lots of money. In other words, they just can't, or it isn't worth it.

Everyone sayed "make it better and faster, every FPS is worthfull" and now i read stuf like "it isnt worth it" it is a goood way to make it faster - the sound is buggy like hell -if i play smash brothers melee or brawl i got 2 mins sound and THAN just sound effects cause the music loops or stop!
So it isnt a bad idea to give the music a own core... and the threat maker isnt a noob - think all the boons booger are one - cause they don´t try anything to make new ^^ they just sitting on that, what they got...

Extra cores wouldn't work anyway as nothing can be split any further onto separate cores, not to mention the nightmares with syncing it would cause so give it up already as it isn't going to happen nor is it feasible.
The only thing an extra core will be useful for is the LLE plugin but even that will become useless once LLE JIT is properly implemented. The most cores you'll ever see Dolphin using is three and that extra core would only be for the LLE plugin since that is the only other thing that can be split onto another core and will benefit from an additional core. Not sure how much clearer this needs to be said since some fail at grasping the concept... |
