This is MY opinion. And criticism over the system in general, excluding its gaming lineup.
I actually got a Wii-U for Christmas, and I gotta say, I'm unimpressed with it so far. Not only the system itself, but it has a ton of other issues. I particularly dislike Miiverse, and their online is clunky. Also the OS seems to hang up occasionally for reasons I can't really fathom. I also do not like the pad, and ended up buying a classic controller. The only game I currently got is MH3U, and I guess its a decent game, but I'm not really into it.
It seems like Nintendo completely missed the mark with the Wii-U. I don't see anything creative or innovate about this system at all. Most people still think its a portable upgrade for the Wii. You know because they see a box that has a pad with a screen on it?
They're trying to market a system that is using hardware from 2006, and slap a $300-$350 price tag on it, when someone can go out and buy a PS4 that is actually using REAL next gen hardware for only 30% more. What can the Wii-U do that the PS4 doesn't do better, which wasn't something the Wii can't also do? Basically nothing IMO. And the consumers who do know the Wii-U is actually a new system realize this.
People said the same thing about the Wii, but the Wii was actually innovative because of the Wiimote, and it could do stuff its competitor couldn't do. And that was a feature that was desired by the masses. Even my mom, a 61 year old woman owns a Wii system, because she likes the Wii tennis and Wii fit. Nintendo can't even make a convincing selling point to the casual and non gamers they marketed the Wii to as to why they should buy a Wii-U? It doesn't provide any new features that they actually care about.
I'm predicting the Wii-U flops massively. Its going to be Nintendo's worst selling system second only to the Virtual boy.
And this isn't coming from a Nintendo hater either, because I own EVERY Nintendo console system from NES all the way up to Wii-U.
