My $.02 (I don't own a Wii U yet) - I think the price tag is too high for the capabilities/features and the controller seems like a gimmick. The new titles look great. I also remember when the Wii was fairly expensive initially and as the price dropped, it overtook other consoles in sales. I hope we'll see the same thing happen here in time. In my opinion Nintendo should have eliminated the touchscreen controller and reduced the initial price tag to compete the with other consoles. It worked in the past and I think it will work in the future.
I'm really not sure if offering their A+ titles on mobile and other platforms is a solid direction/strategy. Those titles are great not only because of their creative direction, but because of the technical capabilities of their controllers and platforms. I'm not sure there will be such a clean, error free experience if they offer games on 2-3 additional platforms. That erodes their primary differentiator.
