Greetings to all,

I read this forum regularly but this is my first post because I want to buy a new tablet but I´m somewhat confused in what model to buy.

it seems the decision is between the Nvidia Shield Tablet and the Nexus 9, I browsed many post in this forum but the information is not clear to me in what tablet is the best for dolphin.

In one hand the Nvidia shield tablet supports open GL 4.5 and the Nexus 9 doesn´t and from what I read here that seems to be a major issue with dolphin.

In the other hand the Nexus 9 supports 64 bit and the Nvidia Shield Tablet is only 32 bit and in the future with the aarchive64 it seemd that the Nexus 9 could get a good speed boost.

So, the question is, in your opinion what would be the best tablet to buy to use with dolphin?,

P.S - excuse for my bad English, is not my native language.

If you don't want wait for the new Nvidia device with a Tegra X1, i advise you the Nexus 9. This device can run equal or well Dolphin Emulator than Shield Tablet. With more work and HTC/Google implement OpenGL context, can be the ultimate device for Dolphin until Tegra X1 device.

had this choice myself, shield tablet or nexus 9. decided to get shield tablet cause of expandable memory, opengl 4.5 context, cheaper than nexus 9. plus i wanted to wait so 64 bit processors is more common in android.

Nexus 9 has underperformed compared to what people thought the 64-bit architecture speed boost it was supposed to provide. I went the shield for the gamestream and nvidia features, but it also has 128 GB expandable, open gl 4.5, capable of running UE4 benchmarks which no other tablet is capable of at steady framerates. Very happy with my purchase.

For Dolphin Aarch64 is really better than ARMv7. Like Sonicadvance say, gettimeofday () is really faster on Aarch64. Neon instructions can be use on Dolphin(ARMv7 can't do due to lack of 64 bits support).

The Nexus 9 isn't worth buying. Don't count on it getting desktop OpenGL support ever, nor proper external storage support. Denver is a clunky cpu that only emulates ARMv8 and will be at the bottom of benchmark listings once proper 64-bit ARM devices are released for android (the current gen. iDevices already beat it easily...)

If you're buying Shield for streaming, bear in mind that Limelight exists. It's an open-source client for nVidia GameStream. I've had quite a bit of success with the linux build, which is supposedly a little worse than the Windows one, which is supposedly significantly worse than the Android one.
