Not necessarily. People often confuse channels (connections between the IMC and DIMMs) with DIMMs (connection between channels and dram ICs).

Triple channel can be setup with 3, 4, 5, 6, or more dimms. As long as you have at least 1 DIMM connected to each of the three channels. Likewise you could easily configure a dual channel setup with 3 DIMMs. DIMM 1 and 2 on channel 1 and DIMM 3 on channel 2 for example.

The only consumer desktop platform with triple channel memory support was Intels LGA 1366 platform. Which supported bloomfield and gulftown cpus (i7 9xx series).

Not really. The very first result will confirm that it exists. It should take literally a few seconds to confirm the validity of your statement. You should have done more research before calling anyone who claims triple channel is real "marketing idiots outright lying, because they don't know what they're talking about". And with such perceived certainty.

kinkinkijkin Wrote:dual-channel is where each stick of RAM gets two RAM channels assigned to it, as if it were two sticks of RAM.

That's not true either. Dual channel is a wiring system and addressing scheme where two DIMMs can be address simultaneously. It cannot be done with one DIMM ("sticks" as you call them). If you were to widen to the connection to the individual DIMMs then you would end up with an entirely new memory standard.

@Nemesys

What builds have you tried? Older builds may run the game better. Your cpu is a bit slow for those settings though.

When you turn on AA the bottleneck will switch to your GPU. That's what you're experiencing.

If anyone is wondering why I'm responding to a thread that's been dead for 2 weeks this was posted while I was away and it's been in my backlog since then.
