What is the very best stock socket 775 CPU for dolphin?

Firstly I must apologise I remembered that it's a g41m combo, not a g31m combo but regardless it is still a cheaper chipset than p35 or whatever the later performance variant is. By looking at the comments it's pretty obvious the greatest core 2 duo wouldn't provide a black and white performance increase and I agree throwing money at a dead socket is silly, the only thing is the cheapest 1155 motherboard is $50 + CPU $75-$125 + memory $20 + shipping means at least $160 on the computer I only wanted to throw a $50 CPU in.

But thanks for all of the replies, considering everything I'll just leave the computer as it is and in time collect used 1155 parts (the one benefit of the socket being a locked multiplier on basic chips is they definatley weren't over clocked)

thats a bad idea dont do that. wait till you have the money. by time you have the money wasteing on used parts. you could buy brand new ones which Socket 1150 will take over as mainstream socket.

Your best bet is save ~300$ then get back to us when you have it.

it depends on what games you plan to play, only low to mid cpu-demanding games would work...

Forget Quads, they are expensive and not that good with Dolphin

These CPUS are well know of having compatibility issues with several chipsets (CPUs not working when they should), most of these can be solved with BIOS upgrades.
